Last summer (2011) I had the honor of being chosen by Flavio Escribano (founder of ARSGAMES) to take part in the “Videojuegos en el Cervantes” (“Video games at the Cervantes”) project, which was held with great success in ten cities across the world. The project comprised an interactive exhibit titled “Pasado y presente del videojuego español” (“Past and present of the Spanish video game”) as well as a project presentation by a guest artist. On this occasion, I had the pleasure of introducing The Gamer Inside to Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.
Thanks to this journey, I discovered the richness of Brazilian culture, the multiple contrasts of its people, and the fascinating love/hate story that has developed between video games and Brazil, a country in which interactive entertainment has been embraced by a tremendously enthusiastic audience from the beginning, but industrially neglected and politically misunderstood until very recently.
Circumstances like these have given me enough reasons to take on the adventure of expanding the reach of The Gamer Inside. TGI has been an international project since its first few months, but during this trip I realized that creating a new, more specific sub-series would be totally worth the effort, focusing on stories directly intertwined with a unique culture and history…that of Brazil and its gamers.
The result of almost a month-long stay in Brazil’s four aforementioned cities, and interviewing more than 30 people, I leave you with the first episode of the series, from the Memories channel. In it, you will see the following interviewees:
It is a pleasure to show you the pilot episode of this sub-series, after a stay of almost a month in Brazil interviewing more than 30 people. It is part of the memories’ channel, in which the following interviewees show up:

- Moacyr Alves Junior – Videogame collector and President at ACIGAMES
- Nino Megadriver – Founder and frontman at Megadriver
- Roger Tavares – Owner at Gamecultura
- Ricardo Wilmers – Videogame collector
